TRAFLES is a planning framework used in Educators Rising to ensure that chapter activities are balanced, well-rounded, and connected to career-readiness skills. Each letter represents a focus area that chapters should include in their yearly program of work.

T – Teaching

Activities that focus on developing members’ skills in teaching and education-related careers.

R – Recreation

Fun, team-building activities that help build camaraderie and chapter spirit.

A – Appreciation

Events or gestures to recognize and thank individuals who contribute to education and your chapter’s success.

F – Fundraising

Projects to raise money for chapter activities, service projects, or travel to conferences.

L – Leadership

Opportunities for members to develop and demonstrate leadership skills.

E – Educational Awareness

Activities that increase understanding of education as a profession and issues affecting the field.

S – Service

Community service and volunteer projects that allow members to give back.

Why TRAFLES Matters

By intentionally planning activities in all seven areas, Educators Rising chapters:

  • Provide a well-rounded student experience

  • Develop career-ready skills

  • Maintain program balance and avoid focusing too heavily on just one type of activity

  • Meet expectations for CTSO program evaluation
